The Raffaldini Family, in collaboration with other vineyard and winery owners in North Carolina, have come together to establish an organization that promotes and sustains the quality of North Carolina Wines. The North Carolina Fine Wines Society organizes and conducts competitions and events to fund educational training and scholarships to promote the quality of North Carolina viticulture, wine, and agritourism. This month, the NC Fine Wines Society is hosting its first North Carolina Fine Wines Competition, where 12 wines representing 12 different categories will be chosen as the tops in each category. A panel of Advanced Sommeliers and Masters of Wine will evaluate the wines in a double blind tasting. The unveiling of our competition winners is only the beginning of this celebration of North Carolina Fine Wines. Following the competition is an evening to remember: Dine and interact with more than 40 North Carolina's Vineyard Owners, Winemakers and Winery personnel at a gala dinner and awards ceremony at the luxurious Millennium Center in downtown Winston-Salem, as we will recognize achievements in quality as well as pair North Carolina Fine Wines with a scrumptious, six-course dinner. At the gala, wineries and wine lovers will learn the top 12 wines which will make up the 2017 NC Fine Wines Case.

Join us at The Umstead Hotel and Spa on Tuesday February 28th from 5:30 - 7:30 to taste the best North Carolina wines accompanied by succulent hors d'oeuvres. The winning vineyards will be there pouring their award winning wines as well as sharing their stories of what makes their wines so great.
This is a great educational opportunity for wine lovers to increase their knowledge of the quality of North Carolina wines and interact directly with the owners and winemakers that made them. Tickets are limited and will sell out quickly. We are excited to announce the release of our 2017 Spring Wine Club Package containing the inaugural release of our newest red varietal, Sagrantino. This varietal hails from Umbria and is one of the rarest in the world with less than one-thousand acres planted worldwide. Our debut Sagrantino is from the spectacular 2015 vintage that was hot and dry, just like in Sagrantino's native Umbria. The Spring Wine Club Package will also contain the 2016 vintage of our classic white, Vermentino Superiore, and the 2015 Bella Misto. In addition to the wines, each package contains a letter from the Raffaldini Family, winemaker's notes and recipes to pair with the wines, a list of upcoming events including an invitation to our Spring Four Seasons Wine Tasting Dinner.

Perfection in a Bottle: 2014 Grande Riserva, Available Now
Grande Riserva, as the name implies, represents the very best efforts of all that we do from the vineyard to the winery. In making this limited quantity wine, we used the finest and oldest Montepulciano, Petit Verdot and Sagrantino grapes, harvested at optimal ripeness and then triple sorted to create a decadent, powerful wine with a focused expression of Raffaldini Vineyards. We applied the Appassimento drying process to further concentrate the grapes' natural flavors and aromas. Finally, we placed the grapes in oak fermenters to further deepen the profile and age the wine in the best oak barrels available.
Less than 50 cases of sequentially-numbered bottles of this wine are available at $55 per bottle. Purchase limits are one case per person for wine club members and six bottles per person for the general public.

Calling All Dogs! Pino Vino IX Rescue Dog Red Wine Label Competition
Starting February 1
Sales of Raffaldini Vineyards' Pino Vino I - VIII helped benefit all animals in need through donations to local animal rescue organizations. If you have a rescue dog that you would like to be considered for the Pino Vino IX label, send us a photo and back story in 50 words or less between February 1-April 25. An independent panel of judges will narrow down the entries and then vote on a winner. The winning dog will then go on to represent all animals in need as the new Pino Vino ambassador featured on the label of our Pino Vino IX red wine.

The winner will be revealed on the labels of Pino Vino IX at a grand unveiling ceremony on June 17, 2017.

To insure the highest quality experience for all our visitors, we are unable to accommodate groups of eight or more for wine tasting without a reservation. Groups of eight or more need to reserve a private tasting package that will be held with an expert Raffaldini staff member.
